Capard Route

The Capard Route follows a specially constructed boardwalk which allows for year round access to the site without damaging the sensitive habitat.

Please stick to the boardwalk and follow signage. Dogs should be kept under tight control.

Directions to Capard trailhead

There are car parking facilities plus picnic tables at the Capard trailhead. Capard can be accessed from Clonaslee or Rosenallis from the north and from Mountrath or Ballyfin to the south.

Ownership & Management

The Slieve Bloom Nature Reserve is managed by the National Parks and Wildlife Service; part of the Department of the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht.

Walking Events

The Slieve Bloom Walking Club organise walks every weekend of the year. All of these walks are led by an experienced and friendly walk leader who is very familiar with the mountains. These walks are post to the Walking calendar weekly.

A panel of guides are also available if you are are looking for a personal leader who can tailor-make a walk to suit your party or group.
